The Bell Hill Meetinghouse Association in Otisfield is the recipient of a $30,250 Historic Preservation Fund grant.

This grant is administered by the National Park Service, Department of the Interior and the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, according to a news release from the association.

The grant monies will be used to fund, in part, replacement of the failed main tie beam supporting the north side of the steeple tower and replacement exterior trim on the belfry.

This work is part of a multi-year project to restore the steeple tower of the 1839 Bell Hill Meetinghouse at 191 Bell Hill Road.

The meetinghouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is used for an annual summer series of public concerts, exhibits, children’s programs and other events.
