DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am hosting two ongoing group activities. I’m looking for three interested people to form a Mahjong group on either Tuesday or Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon at my home.

Also, the first Auburn Red Tent for women will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please contact me at 727-726-6840 if you are interested in attending either of these events. – Donna, Auburn

ANSWER: Mahjong is a lovely way to pass the time and I hope you get some people to join in the fun.

For those who don’t know, Red Tents are liberatory spaces intentionally co-created for women to share, connect and be authentic. They are also community spaces for women to share their stories, rest and gain strength from being together and supporting one another. Traditionally, women of all ages/generations meet to celebrate and hold one another up as they speak their truth, guide one another, and sit in solidarity. This website does a great job of explaining it all: https://themoonwoman.com/what-is-red-tent/.

I wish there were more Red Tents in the area so I commend you, Donna, for your efforts in making this happen. You may want to check in with The Center for Wisdom’s Women in Lewiston to see if you can collaborate in some way. You can learn more at https://wisdomswomen.org/ and contact the organization through the email form on the website or call 513-3922.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please tell me what the date is for the St. Dominic’s Craft Fair and who we would call to rent a vendor table? — Denise, no town

ANSWER: I can’t find this information posted anywhere yet but it’s usually at the end of October or first Saturday in November. I’ll certainly get the word out when I hear from the organizers. Meanwhile, if anyone is Sun Spots Land has this valuable information, please share.

I came across this website that has a good list of upcoming craft fairs, festivals and other events throughout the state: https://www.fairsandfestivals.net/: states/ME/. Earlier in the month, a reader asked for a listing of area craft fairs and this resource covers a lot of territory. It’s three pages long!

If any Sun Spots readers are involved in organizing fall or holiday craft fairs, send me the info, especially if you are renting tables, or need volunteers or donations of things to sell. You will also want to email the info to Community News at smgcommunitynews@sunjournal.com.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you or your readers recommend someone who does on-site boat winterization and shrink-wrapping? — No name, no town

ANSWER: In the Rolodex I have Nadeau’s Marine (https://www.nadeausmarine.com/services/94883/shrink-wrapping,  588-2422). There is an email form on its website. Also there is Maine Mobile Shrinkwrap (mainemobileshrinkwrap.com, mainemobileshrinkwrap@gmail.com, 266-5433); Mid-Maine Marine (https://www.midmainemarine.com/services/49356/shrink-wrapping –there is an email form on the website or you can call 465-2146.)

Folks at your local marina may also have some ideas. Readers, as always, please send in your recommendations. The Rolodex can never be too full.
