AUBURN — A 61-year-old man from Carthage suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday night when his motorcycle collided with an SUV on Center Street, according to police.
James Irish was riding his Royal Enfield motorcycle when he ran a red light and hit an SUV, said Deputy Chief Tim Cougle of the Auburn Police Department.
Irish crashed into a Toyota RAV4 driven by Qasim Al-Hikaimy, 56, of Lewiston, who was preparing to turn left onto the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Irish, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was listed in critical condition, according to Cougle.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office assisted Auburn police in reconstructing the crash.
