RUMFORD — Former Selectman John Pepin Sr. was unanimously appointed to the board Thursday night, succeeding Michael Peter Chase, who died Aug. 25

Chairman Chris Brennick said Pepin will serve until the annual town meeting in June 2023. At that time, voters will choose someone to fill the remaining year of Chase’s three-year term.

In other business Thursday, Town Manager Stacy Carter said nominations are being accepted for the
Citizen of the Year Award. Those interested should send a short narrative listing the nominee’s accomplishments and why they should be considered.

Nominations must be mailed to the town manager’s office, 145 Congress St., Rumford, ME 04276 and received by 4 p.m. Oct 17.
