When I entered Lewiston High School, Peggy Rotundo took a seat on the Lewiston School Committee.

When I headed north to college, she went north to the Maine State Senate. The year I started grad school, she became a state representative.

These trajectories are not coincidental. As a woman born and raised in Lewiston now raising my own daughter here, it matters to me that those who represent us can also inspire us. All my life Peggy has exemplified what it means to be a strong woman committed to community, hard work and purpose.

And it’s no exaggeration to say that her dedication to Lewiston people — and our access to good jobs, childcare and schools, housing and health care — is what made my path possible in the first place.

We must send Peggy back to the Senate so that she can continue to work for and inspire us.
