DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are still looking for local crafters and vendors for Our Lady of the Rosary Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Setup starts at 7 a.m.

This is a 30-table fair and we have rented more than half of them to date.  The price is $25 for an 8-foot space with a table and a chair included. The fair is held in the church basement at 131 High St. in Sabattus. FYI, Scentsy has reserved a space.

Please contact me at adobson@une.edu for an application and instructions for getting a space to showcase your crafts! — Angela, no town

ANSWER: One of our readers who is a crafter recently asked about fall craft fairs in the area and this sounds perfect for you. Let’s see if we can fill up that fair with crafters and buyers on Nov. 19!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin will offer in-person tutor training. The eight-hour workshop will be held Oct. 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at USM/Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St. in Lewiston.

One-on-one tutors help adults gain the academic skills they need to obtain good jobs, help their children with their education, and many other critical life tasks to navigate the community. If you are age 21 or older, have at least a 12th grade reading level, are patient, organized and a good listener, you can be a Literacy Volunteer. Registration is required.

ANSWER: This is such a rewarding volunteer opportunity and there are other ways to help the organization as well, with donations, purchasing a needed item from the Amazon Wish List, volunteering at fundraising events and more. Check the website for this information and more.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are a retired couple who would like to take a trip to the Bahamas or someplace similar (and warm) in the spring of 2023. We’d like to ask if other people in Sun Spots Land have done this and if they used a travel agency and if so, who did they work with? We definitely need some guidance as we plan. — Denny and Gerry, Mechanic Falls

ANSWER: The first travel agency I think of is Dube Cruise & Travel Center. I’m including their website just so you (and other readers) can see who they are and what they specialize in, such as Caribbean vacations, cruises, and more. Visit https://www.dubetravel.com/.  They are at the Potvin Mall at 250 Center St., Ste. #13 in Auburn. You can reach them at 784-2916.

Are you a AAA member? If not, you’re missing out on some great value there. Even longtime members overlook the fact that AAA can help you plan your trip, make airline, hotel, and rental car reservations, and more. The Auburn office is at 600 Center St. at the Shaw’s Plaza. The phone number is 786-0664.

Readers, if you have a travel agency to recommend, please write in!
