AFCI
We are delighted to be starting up our Handy Neighbor Program with renewed capacity. The program provides high school students to perform simple household tasks, primarily fall and spring yardwork (no lawn mowing or winter shoveling, unfortunately). In collaboration with AFCI, the Handy Neighbor Program is directed by Lyndsey Smith, coordinator of two programs for Telstar Middle and High School students: NorthStar and Rotary’s Interact.

The Handy Neighbor Fall service day will be Saturday, October 15; we’re now accepting requests for chores to be done that day (community members over 60). To make a request, call the AFCI service number, 207-824- 4444. The deadline for requests is October 6. Late requests will be put on a waiting list to be assigned as we are able. Call now!

Tips from AARP
Get your new booster shot from Moderna or Pfizer at Walgreens (or elsewhere)! These new vaccinations better target the omicron variants that are currently circulating. For more information: https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2022/updated-covid-booster-shots.html.

Do you know the nine medical check-ups you should not put off any longer? AARP has suggestions:

Our new fall flyers are in many community sites. And if you did not receive our large (booklet-type) mailing, “The Beat Goes On,” you may pick one up at the same sites.

All AFCI services are free. To request an N2N ride or Handy Neighbor chores: 207-824-4444. For information, inquiries, and suggestions, email: agefriendlybethel@gmail.com, or visit our Facebook page or website at www.agefriendlybethel.org. We love to hear from you!
