100 Years Ago: 1922

The ladies circle of the High St. Methodist M.E. Church will hold a dollar social Thursday evening with entertainment and light refreshments. The Dorcas Society will hold an all day sewing meeting in the parish house Wednesday, with a picnic luncheon at noon.

50 Years Ago: 1972

The Bakerstown Grant Historical Society will hold its September meeting at Poland Corner in the Community Room of the Alvan Bolster Ricker Memorial Library, Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Ralph Skinner, who is the historian for the city of Auburn, will conclude the evening with a discussion of Bakerstown “Sketches.”

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Original Hermann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will present their “Airs Above the Ground ” at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept 28, at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. The performances will benefit Flying Changes Center for Therapeutic Riding in Topsham.
