The Gawler Family Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Celebration Barn Theater in South Paris. This musical performance by the “fun-loving, folk-singing, fiddle-playing family from the heart of Maine” is suitable for all ages.

The Gawler Family Band (John and Ellen Gawler and their daughters Molly, Edith, and Elsie, and joined by Bennett Konesni), perform an assortment of old and new sounds from many folk traditions. They accompany interweaving family harmonies with fiddles, banjo, wooden banjo, cello, guitar, ukulele, and piano as well as a few surprises. Whether they are crooning a poignant ballad or delivering a rollicking fiddle tune, their unique arrangements are paired with anecdotes of historical and humorous content. Although the Gawlers may be best known for their extensive collection of dance tunes in the Scots-Irish and French Canadian traditions, their repertoire includes acapella work songs or odes to everyday life.

All patrons attending a show at Celebration Barn must present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 and a matching photo ID. A booster shot, while recommended by the CDC, is not required in order to attend a show at this time. Attendees 4 and under are only required to wear a mask.
