Representative Sawin Millett

WATERFORD — Representative Sawin Millett has announced his bid for re-election to the Maine House of Representatives in the new House District 81, Greenwood, Norway, South Oxford, Stoneham, Stow, Sweden and Waterford. The long-term budget specialist always has the interests of taxpayers in mind.

“These last few years have been tough,” said Rep. Millett. “I understand what rising prices are doing to family budgets and the need for people to keep more of what they earn. There is a lot of work that has to be done to get our state and Western Maine back on track. The struggles of everyday Mainers have to be addressed.”

Rep. Millett is completing his eighth non-concurrent term in the Maine House, where he currently serves as Ranking Member on both the Appropriations and Government Oversight Committees.

He has also served in the administrations of five Governors across the political spectrum – Longley, Brennan, McKernan, King, and LePage – at the highest levels of State Government including time as Commissioner of Education, Commissioner of Finance, Commissioner of DAFS, and time at the Department of Mental Health. Millett has also served on the local level as a Selectman. He has been a teacher and principal.

“Now more than ever, the ability to work cooperatively with others matters. If given the opportunity to serve my neighbors again, I will put my experience to work finding solutions that help Maine recover and move forward.”

Sawin Millett lives in Waterford on his family farm. He has five children, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is a graduate of Bates College and received his master’s degree in education from the University of Maine.
