50 Years Ago: 1972

(from an Oct. 2 Journal photo) Lewiston’s high school is more than 60 percent completed and the size of the building — the largest single educational building in Maine — is most impressive. Checking construction progress are Resident inspector Kenneth Harkins, School superintendent Joseph Deschenes, Vocational Educational Director, Kenneth Jordan and Business Manager Charles McClosky. They are standing on a section of the roof over the vocational shops which will become a deck for the childcare classes. In the background is the gymnasium.

25 Years Ago: 1997

(from a Sun Journal photo) The United Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is putting together final details of a murder-mystery dinner theatre fundraiser, “Let’s Kill The Boss,” to be held Friday, Oct. 3, at Lost Valley in Auburn. The show is under the direction of Dan and Denise Marois of Poland. Theatre committee members from the left are Kathy Adams-Iler, Rachel Morin and Red Cross Executive Director Bonnie Bickford.
