LEWISTON — A pellet gun was confiscated from a Lewiston Middle School student shortly after arriving there Monday morning.

According to a message from Superintendent Jake Langlais, a student reported it to school staff after seeing it on the bus. Staff and the school resource officer identified the student quickly and took the gun.

“Students are writing statements, but we wanted to assure you the information moved quickly and that it has been resolved,” he wrote.

In this situation, students typically face school suspension with restorative work, unless there are threats or there is history of similar violations, Langlais wrote to the Sun Journal.
