The Lewiston Public Library is set to host a monthly teen Magic: The Gathering Club for youth ages 13-19 beginning Thursday, Oct. 13.
The club will meet at 3 p.m. the second Thursday of the month thereafter in the teen space on the second floor at 200 Lisbon St.
Magic is a tabletop collectible card game created in 1993. With more 20,000 unique cards, Magic can be played with several styles and strategies, according to a news release from Harper Chance, teen services technician II.
Library staff and volunteers will be available to teach new players and coach developing ones. Players are encouraged to bring their own decks for casual dueling.
A limited number of decks are available to borrow for gameplay. Free beginner decks are available for new players to keep.
Admission is free; no reservations are required.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
