Poland voters can hear from candidates who wish to represent them in the Maine House and Senate during an upcoming candidates’ night.

The forum, sponsored by Friends of Ricker Library, is scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Poland Town Office conference room. Candidates for district attorney also will participate.

With the recent redrawing of the legislative map, Poland residents now live in Senate District 20 and either House District 86 or 87.

Eric Brakey and Bettyanne Sheats are running for office in Senate District 20.

House District 86 candidates are Jessica Fay and Greg Foster.

Candidates for House District are David Boyer and Mary-Beth Taylor.

Neil McLean and Edward Rabasco are seeking election to the office of district attorney for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties.

The candidates’ night is planned to be a time for voters to become informed about who the candidates are and what they hope to accomplish if elected.

Several of the candidates are first-time office seekers. This is an opportunity to learn more about their views and positions.

The forum will be televised on local public access channel 1301. Voters can take part in questioning of candidates, either in person at the forum, or by submitting questions to lcarey@polandtownoffice.org.

Election Day is Nov. 8. Absentee ballots can be picked up at the town office 30 days before that date.
