H. A. Swanton of Westport has been picking ripe raspberries at his place this week, picking them by the boxful, and sending them around to his friends.

50 Years Ago: 1972

The Lewiston-Auburn Business and Professional Women’s Club will meet at 7 pm. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Casco Bank meeting rooms in New Auburn. At this meeting, National Business Women’s Week will be observed. Two honored guests will be Mrs. Huguette Rousseau, vice president of the Androscoggin Bank and Mrs. Marguerite LaRock of Lewiston, who is employed in the office of the president of Bates College.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Lewiston High School Edward Little High School marching bands will be hosting a joint 13 band competition starting at 5:45 pm Saturday at Walton Field. Division I competitors will include Deering, Dirigo, Winslow, Leavitt and Lawrence.  Division II schools will be Lewiston, Old Orchard Beach, Sanford and Lee Academy.

The Division III schools will include Edward Little, Westbrook, South Portland and Wells.

There will be a 50/50 raffle, refreshments and souvenirs. The public is invited.
