Senior College at USM Lewiston-Auburn College is set to present a Food for Thought talk, “Can DNA Help Unravel the Mystery of Wellness and Well-being?” by Joe Buckman, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20 via Zoom.

Buckman has done classes and short workshops on the medical aspects and benefits of cannabis in the past. This will be a session, free and open to the public, teaching participants about the benefits of understanding and managing wellness and well-being from a scientific yet practical perspective, specifically for active adults and senior citizens, according to a news release from Diane Clay of the Senior College Board.

Buckman graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies from Boston University. He has been a leading technology management consultant, founded YourTechnologySolutions Inc. while working at Harvard Business School and has been an adjunct instructor at ITT Technical Institute.

In 2013 he founded Strain Doctor LLC, a medicinal cannabis company located in Maine. In 2019 he founded MatureReLeafTM, a consumer-focused product-based wellness and well-being company also based in Maine that is geared towards helping the active adult and senior citizen achieve overall wellness and well-being.

Since 2005, during the summer he has enjoyed being a NASCAR stock car instructor for Stockcar Racing Experience at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania.
