Mary Jo Mauro

AUBURN – Mary Jo Mauro, 77, of Gamage Avenue, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Mary Jo was born April 4, 1945 in Portland, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Kelley Lyden. Mary Jo attended Brunswick High School and in 1967 graduated from Husson College in Bangor with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. On May 31, 1970 she married Peter Mauro Jr.

Mary Jo worked for several businesses and long term care entities in her career; she retired at the age of 75. She enjoyed vacationing with her mother and sister, Elly, spending time with her grandsons, doing latch hooks, and hosting Sunday dinner.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Peter; their two children and spouses, Mary C. and Eric Yoder, Dominic P. and Kristina Mauro. She is also survived by her three grandsons, Damian Yoder, Evan and Cody Mauro; two step-grandchildren, Gage and Hana Delano; three sisters, Peggy Boucher, Elly J. Lyden, Cathy Lyden and husband, Joseph Siemiatkoski; several nieces and nephews; and family friend, Donald C. Johnson.

She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Betty Anne Cagley.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fortin Funeral Home, 217 Turner St., Auburn. A private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
