DEAR SUN SPOTS: The First Congregational Church of South Paris at 17 E. Main St. is holding its annual Christmas Fair on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come join us for our fabulous popovers, browse our food and craft tables, have the little ones visit with Santa, and buy a chance on a Christmas quilt, a gift basket filled with coupons and area crafts, and a beautifully crafted wagon. Children can shop for gifts for the adults in their lives at our 25 cent table.

Enjoy a cup of soup with bread, coleslaw, and dessert. Popovers are served from 9 to 10 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. We hope you will join us.—Susan, no town

ANSWER: That all sounds lovely. I am impressed there will be popovers. It is not an easy task to prepare these treats for a crowd. I hope it is a big success.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the knitter who wants to donate hats and mittens (Oct. 12 Sun Spots), the local schools are all interested in mittens and the Lewiston schools need hats. Most of the schools I contacted in Auburn were all set with hats. The schools accept items knitted with acrylic yarn.—Carol, no town

ANSWER: Thanks for letting us know those details, Carol. This is helpful information to our knitting reader and to anyone else who wants to donate knitted items to our schools. I imagine some children cannot wear wool for various reasons.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I recently read that Marcel’s Barber Shop in Auburn has closed, and it was mentioned that two of the barbers had moved to another shop around the corner.

I am trying to locate the barber who has been cutting my hair at Marcel’s for many years. Her name is Jin and the barbers who moved to the other shop do not seem to know where she is. Does anyone have any ideas how I can find her? Please contact me at 207-754-2177.—Ron, Turner

ANSWER: I am not sure we have her name spelled correctly. Could it be Gin or Jen? I am putting your request out into the wonderful world of Sun Spotters. Hopefully, this favorite barber of yours will see it and give you a call, or perhaps another Sun Spotter will know how to find her. Let us know what happens.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am looking for an individual who can service an Acorn chairlift rather than having to deal directly with the company.—Dan, no town

ANSWER: Maine Accessibility Corporation (MAC) — www.mainestairlifts.com — in Gorham repairs those chairlifts. You can call at 207-767-5690.

MobilityWorks in Gray (https://home.mobilityworks.com/) may be another option. The number is 1-877-275-4903.

There are several YouTube videos online for troubleshooting and repair purposes if you know someone who is mechanically inclined. Just remember, if your chairlift is still under warranty and you have someone other than an Acorn technician repair it, the warranty will no longer be honored. Either of these companies listed above can walk you through your questions about that.
