Daniel Louis L’Heureux

HARPSWELL – Daniel Louis L’Heureux passed away at home on Oct. 14, 2022, following a period of declining health.

Danny was born in Lewiston on Dec. 8, 1959 to Cecile Gagnon L’Heureux and Louis C. L’Heureux. He was an active member of the Lewiston youth hockey programs and played for the Lewiston High School hockey team until his graduation in 1977.

Danny was known for being a skilled craftsman. He could build, wire, and paint anything and he always did so with pride and precision. Notwithstanding his talent in those areas, his lifelong passion was lobstering. As a teen, he began lobstering recreationally from his family’s summer camp in Cundy’s Harbor with just a couple of traps. At the height of his career, he captained a large boat and meticulously maintained over 800 traps and buoys.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, boating, and fishing. He had a love of cooking and was known for his voracious appetite.

Danny’s life was full of challenges – including his struggles with substance abuse and the devastating loss of his son, Nathan. Despite his personal trials, he always possessed a kind, caring and gentle manner. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.

He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Cecile L’Heureux; his son Nathan L. L’Heureux; and his ex-wife Claire L’Heureux. He is survived by his brother Michael L’Heureux of Portland, his sister Joanne King and her husband Dale of Brunswick; his uncle Paul L’Heureux and his wife Audrey of Auburn, Joline L’Heureux of Standish; seven nieces, one nephew; and several cousins.

A memorial service will be held, 1 p.m., Thursday Oct. 20, 2022 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., in Brunswick. To leave a note or share a memory, please visit http://www.brackettfh.com.
