Deborah “Debi” W. Mailhot

WORCESTER, Mass. – Deborah “Debi” W. Mailhot, 74, of Lewiston and Fort Myers, Fla., peacefully passed away on Friday Oct. 14, 2022, at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., with her loving family by her side. She was born in Brunswick, Maine, on Dec. 13, 1947 a daughter of George and Dorothy (Yorkshus) Labbe. She grew up in Brunswick and lived in Lewiston most of her life. She was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Lewiston High School, class of 1965.

From early on Debi was dedicated to helping ill people starting from when she became a Candy Striper to later when she expanded her education and became an Allied Health Professional working as a Certified Surgical Technologist at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston for nearly 40 years. Prior to her retirement in 2010, she served as the Navigator of the Neurosurgical Service. Debi was a devoted mother to her two children, Travis and Tiara. She spent many tireless days and nights tending to their every need. She would attend all sporting events for Travis and was always a “well heard” fan in the stands.

On June 21, 2008, she married Paul Mailhot at St. Joseph’s Church in Lewiston and the two of them spent many happy and wonderful years together. It was almost as if the two of them were a fresh breath of air for each other. She loved traveling, gardening, cooking, dancing and she enjoyed the challenge of a good jigsaw puzzle. She will be deeply missed by many.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Paul R. Mailhot of Lewiston and Fort Myers, Fla., her son, Travis Hawksley and his wife Elizabeth of Cumberland, her daughter, Tiara Hawksley of Lewiston, her stepsons; Christopher Mailhot and his wife Tanya of Lewiston, Marc Mailhot of Sabattus, and David Mailhot and his wife Melinda of Lisbon. She also leaves behind her sister, Cassandra Porter of Florida, her beloved grandchildren; Alexandra, Keagan, Charlotte, Adeline and Chase as well as her precious puppies, Greta and Piper and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her stepfather, Marcel Martineau.
