AUBURN — In the latest Senior College in the Community program, genealogist and historian Lin Wright plans to present “Auburn Abroad: The Interesting Life of Pauline Jordan Rankin” at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27.
The talk will be held at the Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St., in the Androscoggin Room.
Pauline Jordan, a native of Auburn, was the daughter of Charles A. Jordan, who built the Jordan House on Academy St. Trained as a nurse, during World War I she signed up with the Red Cross and was stationed in Europe. Later she joined the Near East Relief effort.
She married an engineer who would become a diplomat. As a civilian, Jordan was held as a prisoner of war in both WWI and WWII.
Wright enjoys researching people and using their lives to illustrate New England Studies from USM and a certificate in Genealogical Research from BU. She teaches genealogical subjects at Lewiston-Auburn’s Senior College, serves on the LAC Senior College Board, as president of the Asbury Grove Historical Society, and as her church’s historian.
