I watched the Oct. 4 debate between Gov. Janet Mills and Paul LePage. I was appalled when he shouted that if he were governor he would have given $250 million from a state surplus to the gas and oil companies instead of giving the $850 rebate to the citizens.

The gas and oil companies have been making record profits, and it has not trickled down to the pumps. If his solution to high energy prices is to reward the gouging companies, we sure don’t need him sitting  in the governor’s chair.

When money is given to middle income folks it is spent locally on heating oil, gas, food and child care, not stashed overseas.

Our country has been through enough; it’s time to elect sane people with common sense and good ideas to benefit the taxpayers, not the lofty few.
