AUBURN – Deanna Duchette Fickett, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022 after a courageous 22-year battle with Parkinsons disease. She was born on April 18, 1939 in Lewiston. She was the daughter of Joseph W. and Leona Stone Duchette of Mechanic Falls.

She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School in 1957. After graduating she worked for the State of Maine until her retirement primarily at the Pineland Center in Pownal. On Dec. 2, 1989, she married Bruce Fickett of New Gloucester. He passed away in 2006.

She was a member of Poland Baptist Church, Poland.

She leaves behind a niece Marie Gagne and her husband Marc of Thompson Lake in Oxford; as well as a grand niece Kristal Miller of Lancaster, Pa. and a grand nephew Nicholas Gagne of Barrington, R.I. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; and brother Vernal Duchette.

Her niece Marie would like to thank Vicki and the employees at Sarah Frye Assisted Living Facility in Auburn for the loving and personal care her aunt received. As Deanna said many times it was home with family. She felt loved and it wasn’t a job to them. There are others to thank and you know who you are that visited her regularly. Your reward will be great.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal Street Mechanic Falls with a time of visitation prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Mechanic Falls.
