I was unable to attend the forum at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School Nov. 1, but I want to express my deep and unequivocal support of any LGBTQIA+ students who attend Oxford Hills schools.

As Dr. Martin Luther King once eloquently expressed, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” I know that “justice” is a subjective term, but to me, justice is inclusivity.

It does not discriminate. It is open-hearted. It is curious and forward-moving. It is love not fear, embracing not repelling, broad not narrow.

I encourage us to support our school board’s proposed policies that allow and support all students, of all self-identities, to thrive, learn and evolve in a safe environment.

To do any less would be unjust.
