Brian Lee Elliott

MEXICO – Brian Lee Elliott, 63, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022 at the Togus VA Hospital after a courageous fight against an aggressive cancer, with his girlfriend Bonnie Merchant at his side.

Born in Rumford on June 1, 1959, he was a son of Robert and Pearl (Chenery) Elliott. Brian was a graduate of Mexico High School class of 1977. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1977 as a traffic controller. He was stationed in San Diego, Calif. for most of his service of 10 years. He worked at the Maine Department of Transportation in Dixfield and he also owned and operated Peg’s Taxi in Rumford where he made many new friends.

Brian was married in Rumford on Sept. 10, 1977 to Peggy Hamel who died in Rumford on Dec. 12, 2021.

Survivors include his daughter Jenny Elliott and companion Gabe Pitts of Mexico; grandchildren Sylvia Raine Pitts and Braydin Kole Pitts of Mexico, Kaleb Lewis Pitts of Livermore Falls; his sister Sheila Bouchard and husband Tom of Auburn; his companion Bonnie Merchant of Rumford and his best friend Mike Marston and wife Melissa of Mexico. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Harold (Hal) Elliott of Pennsylvania.

A Celebration of Life will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022 at the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford.
