Wooden sheds line Festival Plaza in Auburn on Sunday afternoon as the transformation of the downtown Christmas village gets underway in preparation for the holiday season. A grand opening is planned for Dec. 3 at the shopping area as part of Auburn’s annual tree-lighting event. “This year, with the addition of Maine’s first Christmas village showcasing exquisite, locally made gifts in our beautiful downtown, Auburn will be a must-see Christmas destination,” Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque says. The event is to include six new vendors each week, offering unique, local gifts and products. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
