Robert White

POLAND – Robert “Bob” Roland White, 71, of Poland passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 31, 2022. Bob was born on June 10, 1951, in Lewiston to Richard White and Stella (Cyr) Bard.

Bob graduated from Edward Little High School in 1970, and joined the Army Reserves as a medic during the Vietnam War era. He worked for 40 years as a mechanic, service advisor and service manager at Emerson Chevrolet (formerly Louis Chevrolet) in Auburn, where he made many lifelong friends throughout the community.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, who enjoyed summers camping in his fifth wheel at Winslow Park in Freeport with his close friends Jim and Carlene Carsley, where he also served as a park ranger. He spent winters in Cape Coral Florida, also with Jim and Carlene, deep sea fishing and enjoying the sunshine. Bob was always happy to report out to friends and family the warm Florida temperatures, on particularly frigid Maine winter days. He truly loved his time at the ocean, whether in Maine or Florida.

When his son, Michael, was younger, Bob would attend hockey games and practices, and was always available to help prepare the Holy Family outdoor ice rink in Lewiston. Bob had an infectious laugh and was always ready with a joke or pun. Bob will be remembered fondly by those who knew and loved him for his loving, care-free spirit.

Bob was predeceased by his father, Richard White Sr., his mother, Stella Bard, and a sister, Linda Brown.

Bob is survived by his son, Michael White and his wife Stacy of Lisbon; his brother Richard White Jr. and his wife Roxanne of Auburn. He is also survived by his grandchildren Adam White and Erin White.

A celebration of life will be held on Bob’s birthday next year, at Winslow Park in Freeport, a place that held a very special place in Bob’s heart. More information will be provided closer to the date of the celebration. In accordance with Bob’s wishes, his ashes will be committed to the ocean.
