Authorities are investigating a fire Thursday afternoon in Naples that destroyed a home, damaged a neighbor’s house, and spread into a wooded area.

Naples Fire Chief Justin Cox said a man who lived in a double-wide trailer near 162 Gore Road suffered a burn to his hand and was treated at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

When firefighters arrived at around 3:15 p.m., Cox said, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames, and the fire had spread to a neighbor’s yard and nearby woods. Valves on two 150-pound propane storage tanks blew off during the fire, Cox said.

Firefighters from neighboring towns including Bridgton, Sebago and Casco responded. About 50 firefighters brought the fire under control around 7 p.m.

Crews encountered downed electrical wires when they arrived, and Cox had power to the area shut off for about two hours. WGME-TV reported that 900 Central Maine Power Co. customers lost electricity.

Photographs of the fire posted on the Sebago Fire Department’s Facebook page show a large wooded area scorched by the fire. Smoke from the fire was visible on radar.
