Jeanne Lorainne Caouette Laliberte

LEWISTON – Jeanne Lorainne Caouette Laliberte, 84, of Lewiston Maine, passed away Nov. 10, 2022. Born Sunday Jan. 9, 1938, in Yarmouth, to the late William and Rose Caouette. Jeanne loved to quilt and passed on her beautiful, finished quilts, wall hangings, and table runners to family and friends as gifts. She also spent many years attending her sons’ various sporting events. She was the Team Mother for their little league teams and was a Den Mother while they were in Cub Scouts. Jeanne also enjoyed family gatherings, especially around the holidays and in the summer around the pool.

Jeanne attended schools in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1956 where she was an active member of the band playing the trumpet. She also loved playing the organ especially around the holidays. She was an avid collector of gnomes by Tom Clark.

After High School she was employed as a switchboard operator for several years before taking time off to raise her three sons. She rejoined the workforce working for the Auburn School system for many years until she retired.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 62 years, Normand Laliberte; sons Jerry Laliberte and his wife Sharon; Jim Laliberte; and Tom Laliberte and his wife Jeni; her sister Anita Wood and her husband Dave. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren as well as ten nieces and nephews and many more loving family and friends.

She was predeceased by her sister Diane Dionne, sister Pauline Moore and brother Paul “Bud” Caouette.Visitation hours are from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., on Saturday, November 19, at Fortin Funeral Home in Auburn. A service will immediately follow at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in Jeanne’s name.
