Beverly M. Capen

AUBURN – Beverly M. Capen, 89, passed away Nov. 19, 2022 at Androscoggin Hospice House following a short illness. She was born June 5, 1933 in the family home on Water’s Hill in Livermore to Chester P. and Nina G. (Goding) McDaniel. She was educated in the Livermore school system and graduated in the class of 1951.

On Feb. 2, 1952, she married David Capen Jr and they remained married for 64 years until David’s passing in 2016. They were parents to seven children and Beverly was a homemaker and stay at home Mom. She worked later in life at Brettuns Variety in Livermore and enjoyed that time immensely.

She is survived by her children, Lucille Capen and her husband Eric Bear of Rome Maine, Roberta Hodgdon and her husband Charles of Wiscasset, Katherine Roberts and her husband Bryan of Greenland N.H., Daniel Capen and his wife Mary of Clarksville Tenn., Leonard Capen and his wife Nicola of Sumner, Regina Ebner and her husband Patrick of Lisbon Falls and Marvin Capen and his wife Teresa of Bristol; her grandchildren, Danny Pierce, Eric Hodgdon, April Hodgdon, Deena Poston, Freedom Lovewell, Zane Capen, Oren Capen, Garth Ebner and Eli Capen; 11 great-grandchildren who all referred to her as “Little Grammie”; her sister, Christine Timberlake of Livermore; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband David; two grandsons, Shannon Pierce and Brian Capen; her sister Anita Hilligoss, and her five brothers, Shirley, Norwood, George, Bruce and Blaine McDaniel.

Beverly has made a full circle and will be placed to rest at Waters Hill where she was born and spent most of her childhood. She enjoyed the peacefulness of Waters Hill Cemetery and her children are comforted in the fact that she will be at peace there after a long life well lived. Her work is done here.

Public memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Waters Hill Cemetery.
