Honorine S. Lafreniere

AUBURN – Honorine S. Lafreniere died peacefully on Nov. 17, 2022, surrounded by family. She was 99.

Honorine (Honey) was born on August 16, 1923 to Gertrude and Frank Berard in Winslow, Maine. She lived joyfully in Waterville with her 11 siblings, Frank, Theresa (Bunker), Fred,Ruth (Totten), Gertrude (Gagnon), Ralph, Beatrice (Poulin), Germaine, Charlotte (Doucette),Wallace, and Arthur, the sole surviving sibling.

Honey met her husband of 50 years, Raymond, when he came to Waterville for a blind date with her sister. Honey and Ray married on May 22, 1944. After time in California and Massachusetts, they settled in Lewiston, Maine in 1956. Honey was active in Holy Cross Parish and volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was predeceased by Ray in 1994.

Honey is survived by her five children and spouses, Suzanne and Robert Bemis, Raymond and Anne Lafreniere, Debbie Liming, John and Gail Lafreniere, and Peggy and Mitch DeBlois. Her son-in-law, George Liming, passed away in 2021.

Honey’s ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren were her pride and joy: Stacey, Tony, and AJ Fournier of Auburn, Maine; Tracey, Chris, Caitie, Erin, and Colin McDermott of Abington, Mass.; CDR Justin Lafreniere, MD, CDR Kristina Hadley, Jacques, and Elise Lafreniere of Chesapeake, Va.; Nicole, Mike, Sadie and Everly Fox of Poland, Maine; Todd, Olivia, and Kellen Liming of Dorchester, Mass.; Andrea Liming of Westbrook, Maine; Alex, Ashley, and Connor Lafreniere of Attleboro, Mass.; Allison and Anthony Paine of Lewiston, Maine; Carolyne and Perry Johnson of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and Ashley DeBlois and Nick Keohan of Somerville, Mass.

The family thanks with deepest gratitude the staff at Schooner Memory Care and Androscoggin Hospice. Honey felt love from each of you every day.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Pinette, Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway in Lewiston.

A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30. Honey will be laid to rest with Ray at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
