Daniel W. Lemay

PERU – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel W. Lemay of Peru. Dan passed on Friday Nov. 25, 2022 at the age of 66 surrounded by his loved ones after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Rumford on March 20, 1956, the was a son of Arthur and Armande (Roy) Lemay. He served in the US Air Force from 1976 to 1982. Dan’s very first job was working for his father who ran a Pepsi distribution business, he later became a trucker, Paramedic for MedCare and a Registered Nurse for NewPage Paper Mill in Rumford. He also owned and operated Generations Health and Fitness and worked in the woods with work horses along side his brothers-in-law. Dan enjoyed hunting, spending quality time with his family and working on his land, he was passionate about planes and had his pilot’s license. He enjoyed flying and would take kids flying around Peru.

Dan was married in Peru, Maine on Feb. 11, 1989 to his soulmate Penny Holmquist who survives of Peru. Other survivors include his sons, Nicholas, Mitchell, and Ryan as a well as his daughter Danielle and her fiancé Tyler Emond. Dan is also survived his siblings, Joseph Lemay, Linda Bolduc and her husband Gate, Raymond Lemay, Roland Lemay and his wife Debbie, Shirley Libby and her husband Ike, and Nancy Lemay; his first grandchild, who is due in April. Many nieces and nephews that were close to his heart also remain. He has now joined his mother Armande and his father Arthur, brothers Michael and Lucien and a sister-in-law Anita in heaven. A father to more than just his own, Dan cared for the community through his work as a Paramedic and Nurse. Gone but not forgotten, the love Dan shared will live on.

A bake sale will be held Saturday Dec. 10, 2022 at the Rumford American Legion from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will become an annual event in honor of Dan and the money raised will go toward research to find a cure for Multiple Myeloma. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1 – 4 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral home 3 Franklin St Rumford, Maine.
