Romeo L. (Giggs) Giguere

AUBURN – Romeo L. (Giggs) Giguere, of Schooner Estates in Auburn, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022. He was 94.

Romeo was born in Lewiston on May 13, 1928, the son of Romeo F. Giguere and Irene Dumais Giguere. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School.

On June 10, 1950, he married Carmen Beaulieu at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in

Lewiston. They raised two children and owned and operated a series of successful restaurants, including Gigg’s Sandwich Bar and Gigg’s Restaurant, both in Lewiston, and the Steer House in Winthrop.

After retiring, Romeo and Carmen frequently volunteered for several local organizations and enjoyed traveling to warmer climes, including Florida, Bermuda, Hawaii, and California.

A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, he is survived by his son Paul and wife Brenda (Cox) Giguere of San Diego, Calif.; brother-in-law Roger Beaulieu of Lewiston; brother-in-law Robert Beaulieu, O.P. of Quebec; sister-in-law Irene (Beaulieu) Soucy of Lewiston; son-in-law Ralph Tuttle of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carmen and daughter, Lisa (Giguere) Tuttle.
