Letitia “Tish” Elizabeth Lancaster

WILTON – Letitia “Tish” Elizabeth Lancaster of Wilton, formerly of Fredericton, NB Canada and Portsmouth, NH, died Thursday afternoon with her loving family by her side. She was born in Burtts Corner, NB Canada, a daughter of Edith and Everette Haines. She attended Fredericton, NB schools and studied bookkeeping.

Early in her adult life, she was secretary for two Premiers of New Brunswick. During her tenure, she organized and held a coronation reception for Queen Elizabeth II in Fredericton, NB. In 1952, she married Kenneth F. Lancaster, the love of her life for nearly 60 years before his passing in 2012. After their marriage, they moved to New Hampshire, where she worked as a broadcaster for a local radio station.

She and Kenneth were transferred several times during his career with the U.S. Forest Service. Letitia loved to entertain family and friends, which along with her career brought her joy. She was raised Baptist and was a devout Christian, who strongly believed in the power of prayer.

She ended her career in Portsmouth, NH where she served as Vice President of an office equipment service company. From there, Kenneth and Letitia retired to Burtts Corner, NB, where they bought a farm and grew Christmas trees, many of which were sold in New York City. They enjoyed life on the farm and managing their trees for 20 years. During her retirement, Lettitia had the opportunity to serve as foreperson of the first jury in Canada where DNA profiling was used. Letitia loved to travel, and with Kenneth would regularly spend each winter at their second home in the Clearwater, Fla. area. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Lancaster; and her son, Kenneth G. Lancaster. She is survived by children Cindy Merchant, and James (Becka) Lancaster; grandchildren, James (Laura) Belanger, Brian Belanger, Scott (Maria) Belanger, Kara Templeton, Erica Lancaster, Jay Lancaster, Grayson Lancaster, Grant Lancaster, Taylor Lancaster, and Addison Lancaster; great-grandchildren, Andrew Belanger, Katherine Belanger, and Jacob Givens; sister, Ginny Hanson; as well as extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. The family will host a gathering for family and friends after the service.
