Marguerite Lussier Berube

AUBURN – Marguerite Lussier Berube, was born on August 4, 1936, in Lewiston. She passed away peacefully after a short illness at Clover Manor in Auburn where she had been a resident for the past six months.

Daughter of the late Albert Lussier and Juliette Jalbert Lussier, she was predeceased by brother Normand Lussier and husband Robert Berube.

Survived by her sons, Kenneth Gray and his wife Margaret of Virginia Beach Va., Norman Gray and his wife Kay of Auburn Maine, and Peter Berube and his wife Diane of Jacksonville Fla.; six grandchildren, Ashley, Katie, Aaron, Shawn, Leon, and Heather; and 11 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Lucy, Aiden, Thomas, Eli, Michaela, Cassidy, Page, Blaine, Charlie and Analisa. She was fondly named “Nan” by her grandson Aaron, and many of you knew her by this name.

She was proud of her career that began in 1963 at the Credit Bureau of Lewiston-Auburn starting as a credit reporter, working her way up to supervisor and later named Branch Manager. She was also proud to have been selected to serve as an officer for Credit Woman International, attaining the rank of president for the state of Maine and held several additional offices in this organization, later working at several credit unions from Auburn to South Portland.

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish of Auburn and enjoyed her membership in the Knights of Columbus #8742 Woman’s Auxiliary, where she made many lifelong friends, enjoying card parties and having breakfast with her girlfriends.

In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and liked taking rides with her late husband Robert, traveling throughout Maine and New Hampshire. And looked forward to visits from her sons & family from VA and FL and with her grandson Aaron, and his wife Becca & family of NH.

She had a keen love of her poodles, Fifi, Honey Pooka, and Gigi. And most recently especially enjoyed visits with her youngest great-grandchildren Michaela Rose and Cassidy Piper.

Marguerite spoke highly of the staff and friends she made at Clover Manor. The family would like to thank all staff, especially the Carlow Place, for their care and compassion for the last six months of her life.

Visitation will be held at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home Thursday Dec 8 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn on Friday Dec 9 at 11 a.m. Committal prayers to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston.
