Michael Lavorgna
RUMFORD – Michael Lavorgna, 71, died Thursday Dec. 8, 2022, at his residence on Hancock Street in Rumford.
Born in Rumford, on Feb. 6, 1951, he was a son of Michael and Diana (Plante) Lavorgna. He was a 1969 graduate of Stephens a High School in Rumford and a 1973 graduate of University of Maine at Farmington. Michael worked as a Teacher and Head Teacher at Virginia Elementary School until his retirement in 2005 when he was named the Teacher of The Year.
Michael enjoyed attending the Brunswick Music Theater, he enjoyed teaching and loved kids, he enjoyed decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween and was often seen riding in his Pontiac Solstice with the music full blast. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Maine Teacher’s Association and the Love Shack Group.
He is survived by his sisters, Ann Broughton and her husband Peter of Hanover and Pamela Poulin and companion Lee Osburn of Ft. Myers, Fla., a brother Richard and his husband Dane of Auburn, and many nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday Dec. 16, 2022, at the Parish of The Holy Savior 126 Maine Ave., Rumford. Interment in the spring will be in St. John Cemetery in Rumford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St Rumford, Maine.
