Pearl Walker

AUBURN – Pearl Walker, 89, passed away at Androscoggin Hospice House on December 10, 2022. Pearl Walker was born December 14, 1932 the daughter of Ralph G. (Jack) and Marjorie L. Harvey McNally. She was raised in Auburn until around the age of ten when Irving and Dot Brown of Mechanic Falls took her into their home as permanent foster parents. She graduated from Mechanic Falls High School as the Salutatorian of the class of 1951. It was there that she found the love of her life, Clifford Walker. They were high school sweethearts, but Cliff was drafted to fight in the Korean War. On May 28, 1955, they were married. 

She was an active mother of five and devoted almost 35 years as to become known as the “Poland neighborhood babysittter.” She had a heart of gold and all who knew her came to love her warm and caring spirit. Pearl loved music and played the piano in her younger years. She worked for almost ten years at Norway Footwear as Head Tag girl and stayed on board until the company closed.

Pearl is survived by her loving husband Clifford Walker of Poland, her son, Clint Walker of Missoula, Montana, son Robbie Walker of Poland, son Christopher Walker of Milton, New Hampshire, daughter Ginger Girard of Poland, and daughter-in-law Rachel Walker of Poland; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased her son, Clifford “Rocky” Walker; her brothers, Gene, Bobby, Frankie, Donald and Joseph McNally; and her sisters Jacqueline Bond and Martha Yates. 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls with a time of visitation prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Poland.
