Michel Corrette, early eighteenth century composer, performer and teacher Submitted photo

The Bow and String Band will perform the seasonal music of Michel Corette at the Oasis of Music beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Trinity Church in Lewiston.

The Bow and String Band is comprised of Greg and Jessie Boardman, violins; Linda Vaillancourt, viola; Mark Nordberg, viola da gamba; and Scott Vaillancourt, reed pump organ. They will perform three multi-movement pieces by Corette known as Noels. An active composer, performer and teacher in the early eighteenth century Paris, Corette based this music on popular French Christmas carols, which all have a very dance-like character.

The Oasis of Music is a weekly music series of performances of roughly thirty minutes, running from September to May. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The musical genres vary greatly, in largely, but not exclusively, acoustic formats. COVID restrictions of optional mask-wearing and social distancing are observed. Trinity Church is located at 247 Bates St., Lewiston.
