Thérèse (Carrier) Fortier

AUBURN – Thérèse (Carrier) Fortier, 98, of Auburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 12, 2022.

Thérèse was born on Dec. 11, 1924 to Valerie Roy and Lucien Carrier, St. Gedéon, Province of Quebec, Canada. She was a dedicated wife and matriarch, who was cherished by all who knew her. With her infamous, “As-tu Faim?”, Thérèse insured that no one went without a snack or meal. Thérèse was a voracious knitter and donated her projects to the Catholic Charities of Maine, and her time to Search.

Thérèse was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Raymond Fortier; and her daughter, Jacqueline.

Thérèse is survived by her children, Julie Fortier, Carmelle (Ronald) Daigle, Roger (Pam) Fortier; grandchildren, Dawn (Peter) Morong, Steven (Shannon) Daigle, Thomas (Nicole) Daigle, Michelle (Brian) Cole, Jill Boulanger (Philip Hunt); and Craig (Nicole) Fortier; great-grandchildren, Colby and Riley Daigle, Liam and Keegan Morong, Caleb and Ava Cole, Landon and Reese Daigle, Haylie Boulanger, and Elinor Fortier.

Thérèse is also survived by her brother, Claude Carrier (Evelyn Rancourt), her sisters Fernande Bisson, Marie-Blanche Tetrault, Isabelle (André) Busque, Elisabeth (René) Côté; in-laws Noëlline and Germain Pepin, Huguette Lachance, Claire Fortier; many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

She was predeceased by brothers Maurice Carrier, Frank Carrier, Victor Carrier, and sisters Jeanne D’Arc Poulin, Germaine Bastienm, Sister Hélène Carrier, and Françoise Giroux.

Visitation to be held Monday, Dec. 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home in Lewiston. A funeral Mass is scheduled at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Sabattus at 11 a.m., Tues, Dec. 20, followed by committal prayers at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
