Jeanne Herley

NORWAY — Visit Café Nomad at 450 Main Street in Norway to brighten your day with an array of colorful geometric paintings by Jeanne Millett Herley. The artwork will be on display beginning January 3 and will continue throughout the first month of the New Year.

Herley, born and raised in Norway, Maine has been artistic her whole life. As a child, she was fascinated by the designs she could create with a Spirograph. She began creating her own geometric designs using a compass and a ruler on paper in the late 1970s. In the 1980s Herley lived in New York City and visited many art exhibits. Here she was introduced and drawn to works by Stella, Vasarely, and Kadinsky. Sometime after 2000, she began experimenting with drawing designs on canvas and painting them with acrylic paints. Her details and hard edges have required patience and a steady hand. This exhibit is the first public showing of the collection.

The Café is currently open 7-3, Monday through Saturday.
