Irving Wendall Harris

FALMOUTH – Irving Wendall Harris, 89, of Mechanic Falls died Friday Dec. 30, 2022 at Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth.

He was born in Lewiston, June 13, 1933, a son of Charles and Doris Newton Harris, Sr. He attended school in Minot and then enlisted in the Air Force where he was stationed in Alaska for two years. Wendall had worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co., Marcal Paper and as an electrician at Pineland before working for himself as an electrician.

In his younger years he was a member of the Mechanic Falls Fire Department. He was an over 60-year member of Excelsior Grange in Poland. He was a member of Tyrian Lodge #73 AF&AM and Kora Shriners.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying with his friend, Jim Parker. He was proud of his kids and grandkids and enjoyed going to their ball games and activities. He always enjoyed family outings and had an infectious smile. On Nov. 26, 1954 he married Arlene Morrill. She passed on June13, 2018.

Survivors include his two daughters, Joyce Franklin and husband Gary of Oxford, Sandi Tardiff and husband Craig of Oxford; grandchildren Heather, Jeremy and wife Amanda, Kelsey and husband Brandon and Kate and husband Kevin; great-grandchildren Sierra, Hunter, Avree, Haven, Alie, Conner, Leo and Bennett; and a great-great-grandchild, Ryland; brothers Malcolm and Barbara, John and Sue, Clifford and Sheila, Dwight and Carol.

He was predeceased by a two brothers Dana and Charles, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Arlene.

Family and friends may call at the Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 26 West Dwinal Street, Mechanic Falls on Wednesday, Jan. 4 beginning at 6 p.m., a public masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Tyrian Lodge, #73 AF&AM followed by a funeral service. Spring interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanic Falls.
