Clara Welch-Gallant

MEXICO – Clara Welch-Gallant, 91, died Thursday Dec. 22, 2022 at her residence in Mexico surrounded by her family.

Born in Rumford, on Feb. 23, 1931, she was a daughter of John and Ruth (Glover) Trenoweth. Clara was a member of the Rumford Hospital Auxiliary, she was a volunteer driver for Western Maine Transportation, she attended the West Sumner Bible Church and the First Baptist Church in Mexico in her later years. enjoyed winters in Florida, reading cooking and her family especially her grandchildren.

Clara was married in Mexico, on Aug. 15, 1959, to Richard Welch who died on Dec. 24, 1979, and later married in Mexico, on Dec. 31, 1992, to James E Gallant who died in Rumford on April 12, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Shannon Mingo and husband Paul of Rumford, sons, Richard Welch of Mexico, Carl “Chuck” Welch and wife Karen of Mexico, Shane Welch of Mexico, grandchildren, Brandi Welch of Trinidad, Rikki Arsenault of Mexico, Deanna Welch of Rumford, Gage Welch of Rumford, Morgan Duguay of Rumford, Jordan Duguay of Rumford and Delaney Welch of Mexico, and six great grandchildren, brothers, Norman Trenoweth of Canton and Daniel Trenoweth and wife June of Mexico. She was predeceased by sisters, Ellie Andrews, Harriet Sicotte, Corrine Ackley and Thelma Milligan, brothers John Trenoweth, William Trenoweth and James Trenoweth.

Our family would like to thank the professionals at Androscoggin Home Health Care and Hospice for their outstanding support and care during our mom’s last days, especially LuAnn, Allison and Beth.
