Alexander Scot McCulloch

SEBAGO – Alexander Scot McCulloch, 47, of Sebago, Maine passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours of Jan. 2, 2023. Scot, as he was known to friends and family, was born on June 13, 1975, in Lewiston, Maine. He grew up in Minot and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1993 before going to the University of Maine in Orono for a year and then beginning work at his family’s printing business, Spectrum Printing and Graphics. Scot worked at Spectrum for several years before the business was sold and then explored careers in different areas, working for Crossmark Marketing Services, Coldwell Banker Real Estate, Shaw’s, and most recently Prime Storage as a general manager.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years Shelly McCulloch and their son Gavin McCulloch, 15, of Sebago, Maine; his parents, Alex and Denise McCulloch of Jensen Beach, Florida; his sister Missy Smith and her husband BJ Smith of Auburn, Maine; nephew Gage Smith; nieces Violet Hoitt, Lily Smith and Ava Smith; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was especially close to his cousin Wade Foster.

Scot was known and loved especially for his wit and boundless sense of humor. His favorite pastime by far was to make those he loved laugh. Scot was an avid gamer, loved to read, was an expert at random trivia, and enjoyed horror movies, comic books and science fiction. He served on the Board of Trustees at Spaulding Memorial Library and cared about his local community and neighbors. He was a devoted father to his son Gavin and treasured that role more than any other in his life.

When first dating his wife, Shelly, he wrote her a haiku. In his typical manner, he sent a terrible one designed to make her laugh first, followed by a heartfelt one, the latter of which read:

Because of your love

Every day is a gift

And my life is joy

Every day with Scot was a gift to all of us and he brought tremendous joy to the lives of so many. He will be missed beyond measure.

Visiting hours followed by a memorial service will be held at the Dolby-Blais-Segee Funeral Chapel at 35 Church Street in Westbrook, Maine on Tuesday Jan. 10, 2023. Visiting Hours will be held from 3-5 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 5 p.m.
