Maine is expecting snow Thursday afternoon that will turn to rain as temperatures rise later.
Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday for much of the area away from the coast. Mixed precipitation is expected to be the heaviest in the foothills and mountains — including Franklin and Oxford counties. The forecast includes total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch. Winds gusts could be as high as 35 mph.
Androscoggin County is expected to experience less than 2 inches of snow and a light glaze of ice.

Periods of moderate and heavy snow will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes.
Snow should quickly change to rain across southeastern New Hampshire and coastal Maine in the afternoon.
The snow changes to a wintry mix and then rain tonight into Friday with light icing possible over the interior.
Localized minor flooding is possible in mainly southern areas with heavy rain tonight and Friday. A brief period of 35 mph to 45 mph wind gusts are possible on the immediate coast tonight.
Scattered snow showers are possible Saturday followed by a drying trend early next week.
