Angeline (Bureau) Pellerin
LEWISTON – Angeline (Bureau) Pellerin, 88, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2023, in Augusta surrounded by her loved ones.
Angie was born in Lewiston on June 27, 1934. Her parents were Helena and Joseph Bureau and she was one of seven children. She went to Lewiston schools and graduated from St. Dom’s High School.
After she married, she moved to New Auburn where she raised her five children. She worked at the Fabric Mills of Lewiston, the Steer House and later Head Start. She also bravely elected to put herself through college at the age of 33 and graduated from the University of Farmington with her bachelor’s degree in education.
She soon went on to teaching 1st grade students for 25 years in the Auburn School District; first at Chamberlain School and later at Sherwood Heights School.
You would know where Angie was because all you had to do was follow the sound of her laughter. Her laughter echoed through the school halls as well as the halls of Bingo in Lewiston.
She married Roger Pellerin in 1987 and they moved to Lewiston and enjoyed going to play Bingo and going to the casino together. She filled her days with volunteering and taking care of her loved ones and playing cards with her friends at the Bingo Hall. She also taught French at Montello School and worked as a hospice volunteer.
She loved many things in life; being surrounded by her children and traveling to see them in far off places like California, Arizona, and Alaska. She loved good food, especially lobster and steak and hanging out on Cobbossee Lake at her kid’s camps and at Tabers in Auburn where she had been going since she was a teenager.
Angie was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Helena Bureau; her brothers Normand Bureau and Reverend Germaine Bureau, and her sisters Marielle Leblanc, Jeannine Carini and Madeleine Cote; her husband, Roger Pellerin; her granddaughter, Crystal Dionne; and her first husband, Marcel Poirier, with whom she had her five children.
She is survived by her sister, Jacqueline Madore; her five children, Claire Koenig of Saco, Marc Poirier and spouse Linda of Bremen, Susan Dionne of California, Denise Poirier of Biddeford and Elaine Carlson and spouse Bryan of California. She also leaves nine grandchildren, Dustin Dionne, Danica Champion, Paul Koenig, Jonathan Koenig, Nicole Skillings, Amber Donahue, Bryer Carlson, Raynee Gutierrez and Weston Kaffke; and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at the VFW hall at 588 Minot Ave. in Auburn from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 22.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Bailey Island Neighborhood at Schooners Memory Care, Cove neighborhood at Glenridge and Maine General Hospice for her loving care. Condolences may be expressed at http://www.funeralalternatives.net and http://www.facebook.com/FALewiston
