PARIS — A bomb threat Saturday morning forced officials to clear the Oxford County Regional Communications Center, Courthouse, District Attorney’s Office and Sheriff’s Office, according to Chief Deputy James Urquhart.

The Paris Police and Fire departments responded with sheriff’s deputies to a 10:49 a.m. call and helped evacuate the county judicial complex. The Oxford County Jail was placed on a lockdown.

“A temporary (regional communications center) was set up at Paris Fire Department for safety reasons and to avoid delays and disruptions in emergency services,” Urquhart said.

The Maine State Police bomb team and canine units conducted a search that concluded shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday, officials said. No devices or suspicious items were found and the complex was deemed safe.

Urquhart said an investigation, including recordings and telephone records, is ongoing.
