BATES 84, UMF 50: Morgan Kennedy and Meghan Graff combined for 43 points to lead the Bobcats (8-7, 1-2) past the Beavers (2-13, 1-5) in Farmington.

Kennedy led the way with 22 points, while Graff finished with 21. Graff ranks third place on Bates’ all-time scoring list with 1,463 points — only seven points behind No. 2 Val Beckwith (1,470) and 15 behind current program record holder Emily King (1,478). Graff, a senior, is averaging 20.9 points per game and has only scored less than15 points twice this season, so it’s likely she’ll set the new program record Saturday at Tufts. The Bobcats then play Monday against the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.

Elsa Daulerio contributed 12 points for Bates.

Grace Dwyer led UMF with 17 points. She was 3 of 3 from 3-point range. Jacqui Hamilton and Jalyn Stacey each scored eight points.

BATES PLAYERS EARN ACCOLADES: Bates senior Steph Baxter turned in a pair of game-high-scoring performances over the weekend to earn the accolade of being named Maine Co-Player of the Week by the Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association on Tuesday.

Baxter scored 23 points in a tilt against Hamilton on Friday and then deposited 27 points in Saturday’s showdown against Amherst. He was credited with four rebounds, three assists steals and shot 9-for-18 from the floor against the Continentals. Against the Mammoths, Baxter, who is averaging 23.7 points per game, made four of his six 3-pointer attempts, snatched four rebounds, had four assists and three steals.

Another Bobcat player, Peter Psychogeos,  averaged 11.5 points and hit six of his 10 3-pointer attempts in a pair of games to make the Rookie of the Week Honor Roll list.
