Philip B. Newman
AUGUSTA – Philip B. Newman, 56, a resident of Livermore Falls, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at Maine General Hospital in Augusta, following a 2 ½ year battle with cancer, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 12, 1966, in Dallas, Texas, the son of Ralph and Judy (McLaughlin) Newman. He was a 1984 graduate of Hampden Academy in Hampden, Maine. After school Phil served in the United States Army Reserves. On April 26, 2003, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, he married Amy Ouellette. Although Phil and Amy never had children of their own, they spent countless hours helping raise their grandchildren, who loving called him Baboo, which brought them both great joy.
Over the years Phil worked in various jobs in retail, and for the last 19 years he worked for Paradigm Windows, he was even able to work from home during his illness. Phil was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Rose Men’s Group. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, reading, and watching his favorite sports teams, The Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Bruins.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Amy Newman of Livermore Falls; his sons Brian Newman and wife Mary of Rumford and Bradey Newman and wife Cera of Bangor; five grandchildren, Heather Marden, Michael Newman, Abby Newman, Sawyer Newman, and Jack Adams; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rosario and Linda Ouellette of Jay; sisters-in-law Shari Ouellette of Jay and Tricia Languet and husband Pete of Benton; stepfather, Robert Whitney of Hampden; brothers, Danny Newman and wife Helen of Bangor, Steve Newman and wife Karen of Orrington, Bobby Whitney of Dover Foxcroft, and Andy Whitney and wife Melody of Detroit, Maine, sisters, Donna Newman of Lewiston, Barbara Bullock, Kathy Whitney, and Gloria Whitney all of Bangor; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter Makayla Newman; and his granddaughter Isabelle Newman.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maine General Hospital and the Alfond Cancer Center for Phil’s Care through his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay, Maine. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, 2023, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Interment in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
