Gerard D. Chretien

LIVERMORE FALLS – Gerard D. Chretien, aka “G”, 68, a lifelong resident of Livermore Falls, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2023, at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1954, in Farmington, the son of Leo and Evette (Lepage) Chretien. He was the youngest of five siblings and the first to be born in a hospital.

He was a 1973 graduate of Livermore Falls High School – Go Andies. On June 21, 1975, at St. Rose of Lima Church he married Susan Boyker of Livermore Falls, his high school sweetheart and wife of 47 years. He worked as a millwright for International Paper Company at the Otis Mill in Jay, and later for Verso Paper at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay. He also worked alongside his father and brothers at Chretien’s Greenhouse in Livermore Falls. He was happiest at the family camp on Round Pond in Livermore surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting and ice fishing. His granddaughter Bella got her first deer, a seven-point buck, with him last fall. He also enjoyed yearly trips to Moosehead Lake. There are a lot of stories about those trips, some not appropriate to be repeated here!

He is survived by his wife Sue Chretien of Livermore Falls, sons, Alan Chretien and wife Kimberly of Lebanon, and Michael Chretien and companion Ashley Langlin-Hebert of Livermore, grandchildren, Trinity, Leo and Calvin Chretien and Isabella and Brody Chretien, his brother Albert and wife Jeanne Chretien of Turner, brother-in-law, Dale Farrar of Livermore Falls, sister-in-law, Cindy Ellingwood and husband Kenneth of Fayette, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Germaine Murphy, his brothers Roland and Paul Chretien, and his sister-in-law, Sandra Chretien.

At Gerard’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
