LEWISTON — The Public Theatre’s annual Father-Daughter Valentine Ball is set to return in person, and this year’s event aims to be more inclusive than ever to celebrate the diverse families in the community.

This 25th ball offers an evening of dressing up and dancing for parents and children ages 4-12.

The ball will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at The Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St. The event will include dancing, raffle baskets (featuring themes for adults and children), a 50/50 raffle, cookies and light refreshments. There also will be the opportunity to purchase a professional photograph to commemorate the occasion.

The Father-Daughter Valentine Ball will raise funds to bring live professional theater to Maine, according to a news release from Carol Ham at the theater.

This event also supports the theater’s education and outreach programs. Throughout the pandemic, the theater has partnered with schools and libraries across Maine to bring the arts in the form of free in-person or virtual workshops, creative collaborations, and specially priced student matinees.

Tickets cost $45 for one adult with one child, $15 for each additional child, and $30 for each additional adult. In past years, ball tickets have sold out quickly.
